Topicort Mild Cream (Desoximetasone)

Do’s

• Use Topicort only on your skin, as directed by your healthcare provider. Avoid using it on the face, groin, or underarms unless specifically instructed otherwise.
• Wash and dry your hands before applying the medication. Clean and dry the affected area as well.
• Apply a thin layer of Topicort to the affected area and rub it in gently, typically twice daily according to your healthcare provider's instructions.
• Avoid covering, bandaging, or wrapping the treated area unless your healthcare provider tells you to.
• Wash your hands after applying, unless you're treating your hands.
• Be cautious when using near the eyes: avoid getting it in your eyes.

Don'ts

• Don't use Topicort on your eyes, nose, or mouth. Rinse thoroughly with water if contact occurs.
• Don't use Topicort for longer than prescribed.
• Don't use Topicort for a condition other than what your healthcare provider prescribed it for.
• Don't apply more than the recommended amount.
• Don't neglect to inform your healthcare provider if your condition worsens or doesn't improve.

Common Side Effects:

• Burning, dryness, irritation, itching, or redness of the skin (usually mild and temporary)
• Stretch marks.
• Skin thinning/discoloration.
• Acne.
• Excessive hair growth.
• Small red bumps on the skin (folliculitis).

Serious Side Effects:

• Weight gain, especially in the face, upper back, and torso.
• Slow wound healing.
• Thinning or discolored skin
• Increased body hair
• Muscle weakness
• Nausea
• Diarrhea
• Tiredness.
• Mood changes.
• Menstrual changes
• Sexual changes.
• Adrenal insufficiency (symptoms may include unusual/extreme tiredness, weight loss, headache, swelling ankles/feet, increased thirst/urination, vision problems).

Inform your healthcare provider if you have allergies to desoximetasone, other corticosteroids, or any ingredients in Topicort Mild Cream.

Discuss any pre-existing conditions like poor blood circulation or immune system problems with your healthcare provider before using Topicort.

Do not use Topicort on infected or sore areas.

Long-term or widespread use of Topicort may affect your body's response to stress. Tell your healthcare provider about Topicort use before surgery, emergency treatment, or serious illness.

Long-term use might slow down a child's growth. Regular healthcare provider visits for monitoring are important.

Use only if clearly necessary and discuss risks and benefits with your healthcare provider.

Consult your healthcare provider before breastfeeding as it's unknown if the medication passes into breast milk through skin application.
