Klaron Lotion (Sulfacetamide Sodium)

Do’s

• Shake the Klaron suspension well before each use.
• Apply a thin film of the lotion only to the affected areas, twice daily as directed by your healthcare provider.
• Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after applying Klaron.
• Use Klaron suspension consistently for maximum benefit.

Don'ts

• Don't use Klaron suspension on your eyes, nose, or mouth. Rinse thoroughly with water if accidental contact occurs.
• Don't apply excessive amounts of Klaron or use it more often than prescribed.
• Don't use Klaron suspension for longer than prescribed by your healthcare provider.
• Don't stop using Klaron without consulting your healthcare provider, especially if your acne worsens.
• Don't hesitate to tell your healthcare provider if your acne doesn't improve after a few weeks of using Klaron.

Common Side Effects:

• Swelling
• Itching
• Redness
• Dry skin
• Yellow discoloration of treated skin (may occur if too much Klaron is applied)

Serious Side Effects:

• Signs of an allergic reaction, such as hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat
• Severe skin rash or irritation
• Pale skin, easy bruising, or bleeding
• New or worsening skin infection

Be aware that sulfacetamide lotion may contain inactive ingredients, such as sulfites, which can trigger allergic reactions in some people.

Inform your healthcare provider about your medical history before using sulfacetamide lotion. This is crucial for them to assess potential risks.

Tell your healthcare provider if there are any cuts, scrapes, burns, or infections in the areas you plan to apply the lotion. Damaged skin can absorb more of the medication, increasing the risk of side effects.

Before any surgery, inform your healthcare provider or dentist about all medications you use, including sulfacetamide lotion and any other prescription, over-the-counter, or herbal products.

During pregnancy, sulfacetamide lotion should only be used if absolutely necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your healthcare provider.

It is unknown if sulfacetamide lotion passes into breast milk. Consult your healthcare provider before breastfeeding while using this medication.
