Finacea is a prescription-only gel containing azelaic acid, which is used to treat rosacea, a common skin condition characterized by redness, flushing, swelling, and a bumpy rash on the face.

It can also be used to treat milder forms of acne on the facial area, particularly if stronger topical treatments are not effective.

Finacea contains azelaic acid, which reduces the production of substances in the skin that cause inflammation, redness, and pimples associated with rosacea.

Do's

  • Follow your healthcare provider's instructions exactly regarding dosage and frequency (usually twice daily).
  • Wash the affected area (face) with a mild cleanser and pat dry.
  • Apply a thin layer of cream to your entire face (cheeks, chin, forehead, nose). Gently massage it in.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly after application.
  • Apply makeup after the cream dries.
  • Use the medication consistently for the prescribed duration.

Don'ts

  • Do not use Finacea cream on broken skin, or around your eyes, nose, or mouth.
  • Avoid harsh skincare products like astringents, abrasives, or those containing alcohol.
  • Don't use more cream than prescribed.
  • Do not cover the treated area with a bandage or dressing.
  • Don't use Finacea for any skin condition not diagnosed by your healthcare provider.
