Locacorten Vioform eardrops are indicated for the treatment of certain ear infections. They are commonly used to treat external ear infections, also known as otitis externa or swimmer's ear. These infections occur in the ear canal and are often caused by bacteria or fungi. Locacorten Vioform eardrops contain two active ingredients, flumetasone pivalate and clioquinol, which work together to reduce inflammation and fight infection in the ear canal.

Do’s

  • The recommended dosage for Locacorten Vioform Eardrops is 2 to 3 drops twice daily for the prescribed period of time, usually not longer than 10 days. Follow the instructions provided by your healthcare provider regarding the specific dosage for your condition.
  • Before applying the medication, warm the eardrops to body temperature by holding the bottle in the palm of your hand.
  • Gently clear excess wax and debris from your ear.
  • Lie down or tilt your head so that the affected ear faces up. Gently pull the ear lobe up and back for adults (down and back for children) to straighten the ear canal.
  • Instill the drops into the ear canal and keep the ear facing up for about 5 minutes to allow the medication to reach the bottom of the ear canal.
  • Your healthcare provider may also instruct you to soak a piece of gauze with the solution and gently insert it in the ear for the first 24 to 48 hours of therapy. Change the gauze at least once every 24 hours.
  • Locacorten Vioform Eardrops usually begin to work within the first few doses. Use the medication for the prescribed amount of time, even if the problem seems to have cleared, to prevent the infection from recurring.
  • Store the eardrops away from heat and light, as they may turn yellow when exposed to air. Additionally, they may stain clothing, skin, or nails.
  • If you miss a dose, use it as soon as possible and continue with your regular schedule. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. If you are unsure about what to do after missing a dose, contact your healthcare provider for advice.
  • Locacorten Vioform Eardrops should be stored at room temperature and protected from light. Keep the medication out of the reach of children.

Don’ts

  • Do not heat the eardrops above body temperature.
  • Do not let the applicator tip touch any surface to avoid contamination.
  • Avoid applying this medication to your eyes. If it accidentally gets into your eyes, flush them immediately with plenty of water.
  • Do not use leftover eardrops to treat future problems without first consulting your healthcare provider. Using the medication for the wrong kind of infection could potentially make it worse.
  • Do not instill a double dose to make up for a missed one.
