Lidex Cream (Fluocinonide)

Do’s

• Lidex Cream is for use on the skin only. The typical dosage involves applying a thin film of the medication to the affected area as directed by the healthcare provider, usually 1 to 4 times daily depending on the severity of the condition.
• Before applying the medication, wash and dry your hands, then clean and dry the affected area. 
• After applying the medication, wash your hands unless you are using this medication to treat the hands. 
• If your condition lasts or gets worse after 2 weeks of treatment, inform your healthcare provider.

Don’ts

• Avoid getting the medication in the eyes, nose, or mouth. If applying the medication near the eyes, avoid getting it in the eyes as this may worsen or cause glaucoma. 
• Do not cover, bandage, or wrap the treated area unless directed to do so by your healthcare provider.
• Do not use Lidex Cream for longer than 2 weeks in a row or use more than 60 grams per week unless directed to do so by your healthcare provider. 

Common Side Effects: 

• Burning, itching, irritation, redness, drying or cracking of the skin
•  Acne
• Change in skin color
• Bruising
• Shiny skin
• Tiny red bumps or rash around the mouth
• Small white or red bumps on the skin 

Serious Side Effects: 

• Severe skin rash
• Redness, swelling, oozing pus, or other signs of skin infection in the area where the medication is applied

Consult a healthcare provider if any of these symptoms are experienced, as they may require medical attention.

Individuals who are allergic to Lidex (fluocinonide cream, gel, ointment, and solution), its components, or any other drugs, foods, or substances should inform their healthcare provider about the allergy and any related signs experienced.

Inform your healthcare provider about all drugs (prescription or OTC), natural products, vitamins, and health problems to ensure the safety of using Lidex (fluocinonide cream, gel, ointment, and solution) alongside other medications and health conditions.

Topically applied corticosteroids like Lidex Cream can be absorbed in sufficient amounts to produce systemic effects; therefore, caution is advised. Follow your healthcare provider’s instructions regarding the application and duration of use.

Caution is advised when using Lidex Cream for individuals with pre-existing skin atrophy, as well as the risk of hypothalamic-pituitary axis suppression.
