Neo-Synalar Cream is indicated for the treatment of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses with secondary infection. It is a combination of an antibiotic (neomycin sulfate) and a corticosteroid (fluocinolone acetonide).

Do’s

  • Neo Synalar Cream is for use on the skin only.
  • Before applying the cream, wash your hands thoroughly.
  • Clean and dry the affected area before applying the cream.
  • Apply a thin film of the medication to the affected area and gently rub it in as directed by your healthcare provider. It is usually applied 2 to 4 times a day, depending on the severity of the condition.
  • Wash your hands after applying the cream, unless you are using it to treat the hands.
  • Use the medication regularly at the same times each day to get the most benefit from it.
  • If your condition does not improve after 1 week of using Neo Synalar Cream, consult your healthcare provider.

Don’ts

  • Do not cover, bandage, or wrap the treated area after applying the cream unless directed by your healthcare provider.
  • Do not use large amounts of the medication or apply it more often or for a longer period than directed by your healthcare provider. Using more than the recommended amount will not improve your condition faster and may increase the risk of side effects.
  • Neo Synalar Cream is not recommended for use over a wide area of the body.
  • Avoid getting the medication in your eyes, mouth, or nose. If contact occurs, wipe off the medication and rinse thoroughly with water.
  • Do not use Neo Synalar Cream for longer than 1 week unless directed by your healthcare provider.
  • Skin irritation, redness, or itching at the application site
  • Burning or stinging sensation
  • Dryness or peeling of the skin
  • Acne or worsening of existing acne
  • Changes in skin color
  • Thinning of the skin
  • Stretch marks
  • Increased hair growth
  • Allergic reactions, although rare, such as rash, hives, or swelling

If you experience any severe or persistent side effects, consult your healthcare provider for further guidance.

This is not an exhaustive list of side effects. If you have any concerns or questions about the side effects of Neo Synalar Cream, consult with your healthcare provider.

Inform your healthcare provider if you are allergic to neomycin, fluocinolone, aminoglycoside antibiotics (such as gentamicin, tobramycin), or any other ingredients in the cream. Allergic reactions can include hives, difficulty breathing, and swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Neo Synalar Cream treats only bacterial skin infections and should not be used for other types of infections.

Topically applied corticosteroids, including Neo Synalar Cream, can be absorbed in sufficient amounts to produce systemic effects. Prolonged use, excessive application, or use on large areas of the body can increase the risk of systemic effects, such as hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis suppression, Cushing's syndrome, hyperglycemia, and glucosuria. Avoid using Neo Synalar Cream under occlusive dressings.

Pre-existing skin atrophy increases the risk of purpura (bruising) and skin lacerations. Use caution when applying Neo Synalar Cream to areas with thin or fragile skin.

Inform your healthcare provider about all the medications, herbs, non-prescription drugs, or dietary supplements you are taking, as they may interact with Neo Synalar Cream. This includes both prescription and over-the-counter products.

Consult with your healthcare provider before using Neo Synalar Cream to ensure its safe and appropriate use for your specific condition.
