Edarbi is indicated for the treatment of hypertension in adults to lower blood pressure. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of fatal and nonfatal cardiovascular events, primarily strokes and myocardial infarctions. It may be used either alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents.

Do’s

  • Before starting Edarbi and each time you get a refill, read the patient information leaflet if available from your pharmacist. If you have any questions, ask your healthcare provider for clarification.
  • Take Edarbi by mouth with or without food as directed by your healthcare provider, usually once daily. The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment.
  • Use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same time each day.
  • Keep taking this medication even if you feel well, as most people with high blood pressure do not feel sick.
  • Inform your healthcare provider if your condition does not improve or if it worsens (your blood pressure readings remain high or increase).
  • Store Edarbi at the recommended temperature range and in the original container received from your pharmacist. Keep it tightly closed and out of the reach of children.

Common Side Effects:

  • Diarrhea

Serious but Rare Side Effects:

  • Blurred vision
  • Confusion
  • Allergic reactions

If you experience any of these serious side effects, seek medical attention promptly.

This is not a complete list of side effects, and others may occur. If you experience any unusual symptoms, consult your healthcare provider for medical advice.

Do not use Edarbi if you are pregnant. Stop using the medication and inform your healthcare provider immediately if you become pregnant. This is due to the potential risk of harm or death to the unborn baby.

If you have diabetes, do not take Edarbi with any medication that contains aliskiren (a blood pressure medicine). Discuss all your medical conditions and allergies with your healthcare provider before taking Edarbi.

Dual blockade of the Renin-Angiotensin System RAS with angiotensin receptor blockers, ACE inhibitors, or aliskiren is associated with increased risks of hypotension, hyperkalemia, and changes in renal function compared to monotherapy. Avoid combined use of RAS inhibitors and closely monitor blood pressure, renal function, and electrolytes in patients on Edarbi and other agents that affect the RAS.

Increases in serum lithium concentrations and lithium toxicity have been reported during concomitant administration of lithium with angiotensin II receptor agonists. Monitor serum lithium levels during concomitant use.
