Tazorac Gel is a topical medication primarily indicated for the treatment of plaque psoriasis. It is recommended for use on psoriatic lesions covering no more than 20% of the body surface area.

Do’s

  • Before starting to use Tazorac Gel and each time you get a refill, read the Patient Information Leaflet provided by your pharmacist. If you have any questions, ask your healthcare provider.
  • Tazorac Gel is for use on the skin only. Wash and dry your hands before applying the medication.
  • Apply Tazorac Gel to the affected areas of the skin as directed by your healthcare provider. Usually, it is applied once daily at bedtime. Be sure to follow your healthcare provider's instructions for the specific duration of treatment.
  • After applying the medication, wash your hands unless you are treating your hands for psoriasis.
  • Apply a thin film of Tazorac Gel to cover only the psoriatic plaques. If the medication accidentally gets on areas you do not need to treat, wash it off to prevent skin irritation.
  • If you have taken a bath or shower before application, make sure the skin is dry before applying the medication. If you use a moisturizer, apply it at least an hour before applying the gel.
  • To get the most benefit from Tazorac Gel, use it regularly at the same time each day. This will help you remember to apply it consistently.
  • Tazorac Gel may be harmful to an unborn baby if absorbed through the skin. Women who are pregnant or may become pregnant should not handle this medication. Inform your healthcare provider if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
  • If your condition does not improve or worsens while using Tazorac Gel, inform your healthcare provider.

Don’ts

  • Do not apply Tazorac Gel to skin that is cut, scraped, sunburned, or affected by certain other skin conditions such as eczema or seborrheic dermatitis.
  • Avoid getting Tazorac Gel in your eyes, mouth, eyelids, or lips. If accidental contact occurs, rinse immediately with plenty of cool water.
  • Do not cover, bandage, or wrap the affected area(s) after applying Tazorac Gel.
  • Do not apply the medication to normal, healthy skin.
  • Do not use larger amounts or apply this gel more frequently than directed, and do not use it for a longer duration than prescribed. Using the medication in excess will not improve your condition faster and may increase the risk of side effects.
