Norpace CR is indicated for the treatment of documented ventricular arrhythmias, such as sustained ventricular tachycardia, that are considered life-threatening. It affects the way the heart beats and is classified as a Type 1 antiarrhythmic drug.

Do’s

  • Take this medication by mouth with or without food exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. The usual frequency is twice a day.
  • Swallow the capsules whole.
  • The dosage of Norpace CR is determined based on factors such as your age, medical condition, and response to treatment. Your healthcare provider will prescribe the appropriate dose for you.
  • Use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. Try to take it at the same times each day to help you remember.
  • If your condition does not improve or worsens, make sure to inform your healthcare provider about it.

Don’ts

  • Do not crush or chew the capsules, as this can release all of the drug at once and increase the risk of side effects.

Common Side Effects:

  • Blurred vision
  • Fatigue, muscle weakness, malaise, and aches/pains

Serious Side Effects:

  • Allergic reaction, which can manifest as hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.

If you experience any signs of an allergic reaction, seek emergency medical help immediately.

This is not an exhaustive list of side effects. If you are taking Norpace CR and experience any side effects, consult your healthcare provider for further guidance.

Clinical studies of Norpace CR did not include sufficient numbers of subjects aged 65 and over to determine if they respond differently from younger subjects. However, in general, dose selection for elderly patients should be cautious, usually starting at the low end of the dosing range, considering factors such as decreased hepatic, renal, or cardiac function, and concomitant disease or other drug therapy.

Norpace CR, along with other antiarrhythmic agents, should be reserved for patients with life-threatening ventricular arrhythmias. The use of Norpace CR in patients without life-threatening arrhythmias has not shown evidence of improved survival.

Norpace CR may cause or worsen congestive heart failure or produce severe hypotension as a side effect. Monitor for signs and symptoms of these conditions while taking Norpace CR.

Norpace CR may interact with other medications, potentially affecting its effectiveness or increasing the risk of side effects. Inform your healthcare provider about all the medications you are taking to avoid potential interactions.

These are not all the warnings and precautions associated with Norpace CR. Consult your healthcare provider for more detailed information.
