Nix Dermal Cream is indicated for the treatment of scabies infestation caused by the mites Sarcoptes scabiei. It contains permethrin 5%, which is an anti-parasite medication that works by paralyzing and killing the mites and their eggs.

Do’s

  • Before using Nix Dermal Cream, make sure that your skin is clean, dry, and cool. 
  • Massage the cream into the skin covering the entire area from the neck to the soles of the feet. Pay extra attention to the areas between the fingers and toes, underneath the fingernails and toenails, wrists, armpits, genital area, and buttocks. 
  • Leave the cream on the skin for 8 to 14 hours.
  • After the recommended time, wash off the cream by showering or taking a bath.
  • Scabies symptoms, such as itching, may take up to 2 weeks to disappear after treatment. If your condition lasts or gets worse 2 weeks after treatment, consult your healthcare provider for further evaluation.

Don’ts

  • Do not take a hot bath or shower before using Nix Dermal Cream.
  • Avoid getting the cream into your eyes, nose, mouth, or vagina. If the medication gets in your eyes, flush the eyes with plenty of water. Consult your healthcare provider if the irritation lasts.
  • Stinging, itching, or a temporary burning sensation at the application site
  • Increased itching during the first few days of cream application
  • Redness, swelling, or rash at the application site

If you are allergic to permethrin or any other ingredients in Nix Dermal Cream, you should not use it. Allergic reactions to Nix Dermal Cream are rare but can occur. Do not apply Nix Dermal Cream to open cuts or wounds.

For children aged 2 to 23 months, Nix Dermal Cream should only be used under medical supervision. The dose required is usually between 1/8 and 1/4 of a 30 g tube. Infants should also be treated on the scalp, temples, and forehead.
