Clobex Shampoo (Clobetasol Propionate)

Do’s

• Apply only to your scalp as directed by your healthcare provider, typically once daily.
• Use a thin film and massage gently into the affected area.
• Leave on the scalp for 15 minutes before wetting and lathering.
• Wash your hands thoroughly after application.
• Rinse the scalp and any exposed areas (face, neck, shoulders) completely.
• Use a non-medicated shampoo if desired after using Clobex.

Don'ts

• Don't apply to eyes, nose, mouth, face, neck, groin, or underarms.
• Don't bandage, wrap, or cover the treated area unless instructed by your healthcare provider.
• Don't use more often or longer than prescribed (max 4 weeks).
• Don't exceed 50 milliliters (1.75 ounces) of shampoo per week.
• Don't use it if your condition doesn't improve within 4 weeks (consult your healthcare provider).

Common Side Effects:

• Stretch marks (striae)
• Skin thinning/discoloration
• Excessive hair growth
• Hair bumps (folliculitis)
• Skin infections can become worse when using this medication

Serious Side Effect:

• Unusual/extreme tiredness
• Weight loss
• Headache
• Swelling ankles/feet
• Increased thirst/urination
• Vision problems
• Allergic reaction (rash, itching/swelling, severe dizziness, trouble breathing)

Inform your healthcare provider about allergies to Clobex, other steroids, or any medications before using.

Tell your healthcare provider if you have poor blood circulation, diabetes, skin conditions (rosacea, perioral dermatitis), or immune system problems.

Do not use Clobex on an infected or sore scalp.

Using Clobex for a long time or on large areas may affect your body's ability to handle stress. Inform your healthcare provider before surgery, emergencies, or serious illness if you are currently using or have recently used Clobex.

Regular checkups are recommended for children using Clobex for extended periods, as it may slow growth.

Consult your healthcare provider to weigh the risks and benefits of using Clobex while pregnant.

Talk to your healthcare provider before breastfeeding as it's unknown if Clobex passes into breast milk through scalp application.
