Valisone Scalp Lotion is a topical medication indicated for the management of dermatoses of the scalp and may also be used in corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses.

The lotion is used to help relieve symptoms such as redness, itching, swelling, and other discomfort caused by skin conditions affecting the scalp, including eczema, psoriasis, contact dermatitis, and seborrhea.

The active ingredient, betamethasone valerate, belongs to the class of medications called topical corticosteroids. It works by reducing redness, inflammation, swelling, and irritation of the skin.

  • Wash and dry your hands thoroughly before using the lotion.
  • Gently cleanse and dry your scalp before applying.
  • Apply the lotion as directed by your healthcare provider, typically following these steps:

    • Apply a thin layer of lotion directly to the scalp.
    • Gently massage the lotion into the scalp.
  • Wash your hands again after applying, unless treating your hands.

  • Don't bandage, cover, or wrap your head after applying.
  • Don't use the lotion for longer than prescribed or for a condition other than what it was prescribed for.
