Lustra cream, which contains hydroquinone, is used to lighten dark patches of skin caused by various factors such as pregnancy, birth control pills, hormone medicine, or skin injury. These dark patches are often referred to as hyperpigmentation, melasma, "liver spots," "age spots," or freckles.

The product also contains sunscreens to help prevent the recurrence of spots due to sunlight or ultraviolet light exposure. This emphasizes the importance of sun protection in managing and preventing skin discoloration.

Lustra cream works by blocking the process in the skin that leads to discoloration. This mechanism involves inhibiting the production of melanin, the pigment responsible for skin color, thereby helping to lighten the affected areas.

Do’s

  • Before applying Lustra-AF Cream to the affected area, apply a small amount to unbroken skin and wait 24 hours. If there's mild redness, it's likely safe to proceed. Discontinue use and consult your healthcare provider if you experience itching, redness, puffiness, or blistering.
  • Apply Lustra-AF Cream to the affected areas twice daily or as directed by your healthcare provider. Be sure to use it only on the intended areas to avoid unwanted skin lightening.
  • Avoid getting Lustra-AF Cream in your eyes, nose, or mouth. If it does come into contact, flush thoroughly with water.
  • Lustra-AF Cream can increase sun sensitivity. Limit sun exposure, avoid tanning booths and sunlamps, and wear protective clothing on treated areas when outdoors.
  • While Lustra-AF contains sunscreen, it's not meant for general sun protection. Apply a separate broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher to your entire body.
  • Apply Lustra-AF Cream regularly for optimal results. Aim to use it at the same time each day.
  • Tell your healthcare provider if your condition doesn't improve or worsens after two months of using Lustra-AF Cream.

Don'ts

  • Don’t skip the patch test. Always do a patch test before applying Lustra-AF Cream to a larger area.
  • Don’t overuse or misuse. Don't apply Lustra-AF Cream more often or to larger areas than prescribed.
  • Don’t neglect sun protection. Sun exposure can worsen discoloration and potentially cause side effects.
  • Don’t use it as a general sunscreen. Lustra-AF's sunscreen is for treated areas only. Apply a separate broad-spectrum sunscreen for overall protection.
  • Don’t discontinue abruptly. Consult your healthcare provider before stopping Lustra-AF Cream use.
