Inhibace (Cilazapril)

Do’s

• The dosage of Inhibace depends on the condition being treated, other medications being taken, and individual medical conditions. Follow your healthcare provider's instructions.
• The usual dose range for treating high blood pressure is 2.5 mg to 5 mg once daily, depending on kidney and liver function.
• For congestive heart failure, the usual dose range is 1 mg to 2.5 mg taken once daily, depending on kidney and liver function.
• Your healthcare provider may gradually increase the dose based on how well the medication is working for you and whether you are experiencing any side effects.
• Take Inhibace at the same time each day, either with or without food.
• If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible and continue with your regular schedule. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. If you are unsure about what to do after missing a dose, contact your healthcare provider for advice.
• Store Inhibace at room temperature, protect it from light and moisture, and keep it out of the reach of children.

Don’ts

• Do not change the way you take Inhibace without consulting your healthcare provider.
• Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Common Side Effects:

• Cough
• Dizziness
• Headache
• Fatigue
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Rash

Not everyone experiences these side effects, and many of them can be managed or may go away on their own over time. If you have concerns about the side effects, discuss them with your healthcare provider.

If you have a known allergy to cilazapril or any other ACE inhibitor, you should not take Inhibace. Allergic reactions to ACE inhibitors can be serious and may include swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, difficulty breathing, or rash. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience any signs of an allergic reaction.

Inhibace should not be used during pregnancy as it may harm the developing fetus. If you become pregnant while taking Inhibace, inform your healthcare provider immediately.

It is not recommended to breastfeed while taking Inhibace, as it may pass into breast milk and harm the nursing infant.

Inhibace dosage may need to be adjusted based on kidney and liver function. Inform your healthcare provider if you have any kidney or liver problems.

Inhibace may cause a drop in blood pressure, especially during the first few doses or with a higher dose. This can lead to symptoms such as dizziness or lightheadedness. Get up slowly from a sitting or lying position to minimize the risk of low blood pressure.

Inhibace may cause an increase in potassium levels in the blood. This can be particularly risky for individuals with kidney problems or those taking other medications that increase potassium levels. Regular monitoring of potassium levels may be necessary.

Inform your healthcare provider about all the medications you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs and herbal supplements. Certain medications, such as diuretics, may interact with Inhibace. Additionally, inform your healthcare provider about any medical conditions you have, including a history of angioedema, liver or kidney problems, or diabetes.
