Cyclocort Cream (Amcinonide)

Do’s

Wash and dry your hands thoroughly before and after applying Cyclocort cream, unless you are treating your hands.

Clean and dry the affected skin area gently before applying the cream.

Apply a thin film of the cream to the affected area, rubbing it in gently as directed by your healthcare provider. Typically, Cyclocort cream is used twice a day.

Follow your healthcare provider's instructions exactly regarding dosage, frequency, and duration of treatment.

Inform your healthcare provider if your skin condition does not improve within 2 weeks of using Cyclocort cream, or if it worsens.

Don'ts

Don't use Cyclocort cream on your face, groin, or underarms unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.

Don't apply Cyclocort cream to diaper rash without consulting your healthcare provider.

Don't bandage, cover, or wrap the treated area unless directed by your healthcare provider. This can increase the risk of side effects.

Don't get Cyclocort cream in your eyes, nose, or mouth. Rinse thoroughly with water if contact occurs.

Don't use excessive amounts of Cyclocort cream or apply it more often than prescribed by your healthcare provider.

Don't continue using Cyclocort cream for longer than prescribed.

Don't use Cyclocort cream to treat any skin condition that has not been diagnosed by your healthcare provider.

Common side effects:

Itchy skin

Local skin burning or pain

Serious side effects (seek medical attention):

Allergic reactions, such as rash, itching, swelling of the face, tongue, or throat, severe dizziness, or trouble breathing

Skin rash, burning, stinging, swelling, or irritation on the skin

Skin thinning or discoloration

Acne

Unwanted hair growth

Small red bumps on the skin (folliculitis)

Skin infections that worsen when using the medication

Rare side effects (more likely in children or with long-term use):

Unusual/extreme tiredness

Weight loss

Headache

Swelling of the ankles/feet

Increased thirst/urination

Vision problems

Inform your healthcare provider if you are allergic to amcinonide or any ingredients in Cyclocort cream.

Cyclocort is for corticosteroid-responsive skin conditions. Do not use it on undiagnosed skin problems or those worsening during treatment.

Long-term use, especially on large areas or with dressings, can increase the risk of side effects. Discuss treatment duration with your healthcare provider.

Cyclocort may thin the skin with prolonged use. Be cautious when applying to sensitive areas like the face, groin, or underarms.

Avoid getting Cyclocort cream in your eyes. It can worsen existing eye conditions like glaucoma.

Inform your healthcare provider if you have a weakened immune system, as it may increase your susceptibility to infections.

Use Cyclocort during pregnancy only if clearly needed. Discuss risks and benefits with your healthcare provider. Corticosteroids may affect fetal development.

Consult your healthcare provider before breastfeeding while using Cyclocort. It is unknown if amcinonide passes into breast milk.

Children may be more susceptible to side effects from topical corticosteroids. Monitor children closely while using Cyclocort.

Inform your healthcare provider about all medications you take, including prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal products. Some medications may interact with Cyclocort.
