Do’s

• Before starting to take Viibryd and each time you receive a refill, carefully read the Medication Guide provided by your pharmacist. If you have any questions, consult your healthcare provider for clarification.
• Take this medication by mouth with food as prescribed by your healthcare provider, typically once daily.
• The prescribed dosage is determined based on your medical condition, response to treatment, and other medications you may be using. Inform your healthcare provider about all the products you use, including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products.
• To minimize the risk of side effects, your healthcare provider may initiate treatment with a low dose and then gradually increase it. Follow their instructions diligently
• Consistent and regular use of this medication is important to derive the maximum benefit from it. To assist with adherence, take it at the same time each day.
• Abrupt discontinuation of this medication may lead to withdrawal symptoms, such as mood swings, headache, tiredness, sleep changes, ringing in the ears, seizures, numbness/tingling, or "shock-like" feelings. To mitigate the risk of withdrawal, your healthcare provider may opt to gradually reduce your dose. Withdrawal symptoms are more likely if you have been using Viibryd for an extended period or in high doses. If you experience withdrawal symptoms, promptly inform your healthcare provider.
• If your condition persists or worsens, inform your healthcare provider.

Don’ts

• Avoid taking more or less medication or taking it more frequently than prescribed. Doing so will not expedite your recovery and may increase the likelihood of experiencing side effects.

Common Side Effects:

• Diarrhea
• Nausea
• Dizziness
• Insomnia
  • Abnormal dreams

Consult with a healthcare provider for a comprehensive understanding of the potential side effects of Viibryd and how to manage them. 

Viibryd may trigger glaucoma symptoms suddenly in individuals with untreated angle-closure glaucoma. Discuss alternative treatments for major depressive disorder with a healthcare provider in such cases.

The effects of taking Viibryd during pregnancy are largely unknown. Additionally, more information is needed to understand the potential presence of Viibryd in breast milk and its impact on breastfed children.

Concomitant use of Viibryd with certain medications, such as aspirin, NSAIDs, other antiplatelet drugs, warfarin, or other anticoagulants, has been associated with an increased risk of bleeding. Patients should inform their healthcare providers about any medications that increase the risk of bleeding.

Patients and their caregivers should observe for signs of activation of mania/hypomania and report such symptoms to the healthcare provider.

Patients should not abruptly discontinue Viibryd and should discuss any tapering regimen with their healthcare provider to avoid adverse reactions that can occur when Viibryd is discontinued.

Patients should be aware of the potential for seizures associated with Viibryd use

During Viibryd treatment, patients should be monitored for signs of suicidal thoughts and behaviors, especially in individuals 24 years of age and younger.
