  • Do not stop taking Effexor XR without consulting your healthcare provider. Suddenly stopping the medication may cause withdrawal symptoms or worsen your condition. Your healthcare provider may need to gradually decrease your dose to minimize side effects. 
  The dosage of Effexor XR is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Your healthcare provider may start you on a low dose and gradually increase it to reduce the risk of side effects. It may take several weeks to feel the full benefit of Effexor XR.
