Teveten is indicated for the treatment of hypertension, or high blood pressure. It belongs to a class of medications called angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs), which work by blocking the action of a hormone called angiotensin II, thereby relaxing blood vessels and reducing blood pressure.

Do’s

  • Take Teveten by mouth with or without food as directed by your healthcare provider, usually once or twice daily.
  • Use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same time(s) each day.
  • The dosage of Teveten is based on your medical condition and response to therapy.
  • For the treatment of high blood pressure, it may take 2 to 3 weeks before you get the full benefit of this drug. Keep taking Teveten even if you feel well, as most people with high blood pressure do not feel sick.
  • Inform your healthcare provider if your condition does not improve or if it worsens, such as if your blood pressure readings remain high or increase.

  • Flu-like symptoms

Serious Side Effects:

  • Allergic reactions (e.g., rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, difficulty breathing)

  • Rapid or irregular heartbeat

If you have had an allergic reaction to Teveten or any other angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB), inform your healthcare provider. 

Teveten may affect kidney function, especially in patients with pre-existing kidney disease. Monitor kidney function regularly while taking Teveten. Inform your healthcare provider if you experience changes in urine output, swelling in the feet or ankles, or any other signs of kidney problems.

Teveten may rarely cause liver problems. Contact your healthcare provider if you notice yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, or persistent nausea or vomiting.

Teveten may cause a drop in blood pressure, especially when starting the medication or increasing the dose. This can lead to symptoms such as lightheadedness or fainting. If you experience these symptoms, contact your healthcare provider.

Teveten should not be used during pregnancy as it may harm the unborn baby. If you become pregnant while taking Teveten, inform your healthcare provider immediately. It is also not recommended to use Teveten while breastfeeding, as it may pass into breast milk.

Teveten may interact with certain medications, including nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), diuretics, and potassium supplements. Inform your healthcare provider about all the medications you are taking to avoid potential interactions.
