Voltaren SR (Diclofenac SR)

Do’s

• Follow healthcare provider's instructions:
• Take Voltaren SR exactly as prescribed, typically 2-4 times a day.
• Take with water: Take the tablets whole with a full glass of water (8 oz / 240 mL) unless your healthcare provider advises differently.
• Upright posture: Remain upright (don't lie down) for at least 10 minutes after taking the medication.
• Food (optional): If you experience stomach upset, take the tablets with food, milk, or an antacid (but be aware this may delay pain relief).
• Swallow whole: Swallow the tablets whole. Do not crush, chew, or break them.

Don'ts

• Change forms: Don't switch brands or forms of diclofenac without consulting your healthcare provider, as they may have different effects.
• Exceed dosage: Don't take more than the prescribed dose or take the medication more often than prescribed.
• Not for long-term use: Discuss with your healthcare provider the risks and benefits of long-term Voltaren SR use.

Common side effects may include:

• Stomach/abdominal pain
• Nausea
• Indigestion
• Diarrhea
• Headache
• Dizziness
• Skin rash

Serious side effects may include:

• Serious allergic reactions: Seek immediate medical attention if you experience signs of a serious allergic reaction, such as difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.
• Skin reactions

This is not an exhaustive list, and other side effects may occur. If you experience any unusual or severe side effects while taking Voltaren SR, contact your healthcare provider for medical advice.

Tell your healthcare provider about any allergies you have, especially to Voltaren Ophthalmic Solution, aspirin, other NSAIDs, or any of its inactive ingredients.

Inform your healthcare provider about your medical history, particularly:

• Asthma (especially if worsened by NSAIDs)
• Blood disorders (anemia, bleeding/clotting problems)
• Nasal polyps
• Heart disease (previous heart attack)
• High blood pressure
• Liver disease
• Stroke
• Swelling (edema)
• Stomach/intestinal/esophagus problems (bleeding, heartburn, ulcers)

Voltaren Ophthalmic Solution may cause dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vision. Avoid activities requiring alertness or clear vision until these effects subside.

Limit alcohol and marijuana use as they can worsen these side effects.

Voltaren Ophthalmic Solution may increase your risk of stomach bleeding. Limit alcohol and tobacco use.

Voltaren Ophthalmic Solution may increase sun sensitivity. Use sunscreen and protective clothing outdoors.

Disclose all medications, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs, and herbal products, to your healthcare provider before any surgery.

Increased risk of stomach bleeding, kidney problems, heart attack, and stroke.

Discuss risks and benefits with your healthcare provider before pregnancy. Avoid use from 20 weeks until delivery. Consult your healthcare provider before breastfeeding.
