Vigamox (Moxifloxacin)

Do’s

• Before applying Vigamox, wash your hands thoroughly to prevent contamination.
• To properly administer this eye drop
  • Tilt your head back and look upward.
  • Pull down the lower eyelid to create a small pocket.
  • Place the dropper directly over the eye and instill the prescribed number of drops.
  • Close your eyes gently for 1 to 2 minutes.
  • Apply gentle pressure at the corner of the eye near the nose to prevent the medication from draining away.
• If you are using other types of eye drops, wait at least five minutes before applying them after using Vigamox.
• Wait several minutes for your vision to clear before driving or operating machinery.
• Use Vigamox regularly at the same times each day to get the most benefit from it.
• Continue using Vigamox for the full time prescribed by your healthcare provider, even if symptoms improve before the prescribed duration. Stopping the medication too early may result in a return of the infection.
• If your condition does not improve within 7 days of using Vigamox, inform your healthcare provider.

Don’ts

• Do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch any surface, including your eye, to avoid contamination.
• Do not wear contact lenses while using Vigamox. If you normally wear contact lenses, consult your healthcare provider before using them again.
• Try not to blink or rub your eye after applying the drops. 
• Do not rinse the dropper after use.

Common Side Effects:

• Dry eyes or watery eyes
• Eye pain or discomfort
• Blurred vision
• Mild itching, redness, or other irritation

Serious Side Effects:

• Severe burning, stinging, or irritation after using Vigamox eye drops
• Signs of eye infection, such as swelling, redness, severe discomfort, crusting, or drainag

Allergic Reaction:

Get emergency medical help if you experience signs of an allergic reaction, including hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Consult your healthcare provider if you experience any of these side effects while using Vigamox.

Additionally, if you have concerns about the side effects or need further information, seek guidance from a healthcare provider.

Do not use Vigamox if you are allergic to moxifloxacin or other fluoroquinolone antibiotics.

Vigamox should not be used if you have a viral or fungal infection in your eyes, including herpes simplex. It is specifically used to treat infections caused by bacteria only.

Follow the prescribed dosage and administration instructions provided by your healthcare provider. Vigamox is for topical ophthalmic use and should not be injected subconjunctivally or introduced directly into the anterior chamber of the eye.

Inform your healthcare provider if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before using Vigamox. There are no adequate and well-controlled studies with Vigamox in pregnant women to inform any drug-associated risks.
