Elestat (Epinastine)

Do’s

• Use Elestat in both eyes as prescribed by your healthcare provider, usually twice daily.
• Continue using it even if your eyes aren't irritated during allergy season.
• Wash hands thoroughly before application.
• Follow the proper technique for applying the drops: tilt head back, pull down lower eyelid, instill drops, close eye gently, apply pressure to inner corner.
• Use eye drops before ointments if using both medications.
• Wait for vision to clear before driving or operating machinery.

Don'ts

• Don't touch the dropper tip to your eye or any other surface.
• Don't rinse the dropper.
• Don't use Elestat with contact lenses in. Wait 10 minutes after application before reinserting lenses.
• Don't use more than the prescribed dosage.
• Don't skip doses or stop using Elestat without consulting your healthcare provider.

Common Side Effects:

• Headache
• Fatigue
• Muscular pains and aches
• Nausea and diarrhea
• Blurred vision
• Dry eyes
• Skin rash or other irritation

Serious Side Effects:

• Allergic reaction (swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; breathing difficulty; hives)
• Chest pain or tightness
• Unsteady heartbeat
• Seizures
• Breathing difficulties
• Abrupt alterations in vision
• Serious damage to the eye and subsequent loss of vision may result from using contaminated solutions
• Increased lacrimation (tear production)

Consult your healthcare provider before using Elestat Eye Drops while wearing contact lenses.

Elestat Eye Drops may cause temporary blurred vision after application. Avoid activities requiring clear vision (driving, operating machinery) until your vision returns to normal.

Elestat Eye Drops should only be used during pregnancy if absolutely necessary. Discuss risks and benefits with your healthcare provider.

It is unknown if Elestat Eye Drops pass into breast milk. Consult your healthcare provider before breastfeeding.

Inform your healthcare provider about all medications you take, including prescription and over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Elestat Eye Drops may interact with some medications.
