Modulon (Trimebutine)

Do’s

• Trimebutine is typically prescribed in doses of up to 600 mg per day, divided into three separate doses (200 mg each). These doses are usually taken before meals.
• The exact dosage may vary depending on several factors, including the individual's body weight, any other medical conditions they may have, and any other medications they are currently taking. Follow your healthcare provider's specific instructions regarding dosage.
• If you happen to miss a dose of trimebutine, take it as soon as you remember. If it's nearly time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. 
• If you're unsure about what to do after missing a dose, reach out to your healthcare provider for guidance.
• Store trimebutine at room temperature, away from light and moisture. It should also be kept out of the reach of children to ensure their safety.

Don’ts

• Do not alter your medication regimen without first consulting with your healthcare provider.
• Do not take a double dose to compensate for a missed one. 

Common side effects:

• Drowsiness
• Fatigue
• Dizziness
• Headaches

Uncommon side effects:

• Difficulty urinating
• Hearing loss
• Painful enlargement of the breast

These side effects may not occur in everyone taking trimebutine, and some individuals may experience different or no side effects at all. If you are experiencing any side effects or have concerns, consult your healthcare provider for further guidance.

Trimebutine may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the fetus, although there are limited human studies. The benefits of using  Trimebutine in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risks, however, consult with your healthcare provider for personalized advice.

It is not known if trimebutine passes into breast milk. If you are breastfeeding, it may affect your baby. Consult with your healthcare provider about whether you should continue breastfeeding while taking trimebutine.

The interaction between trimebutine and alcohol is unknown. Consult with your healthcare provider regarding the use of alcohol while taking trimebutine.

This medication should not be taken by anyone who is allergic to trimebutine or any of the ingredients in the medication.

Inform your healthcare provider about all the medications you are currently taking, including prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal products. This is because certain medications may interact with trimebutine and affect its effectiveness or increase the risk of side effects. 

If you have any underlying medical conditions, such as liver or kidney problems, inform your healthcare provider before taking trimebutine. They can assess whether it is suitable for you and adjust the dosage if necessary.
