Voltaren Gel Extra Strength (Diclofenac Diethylamine)

Do’s

• Apply 2g of gel 2 times a day (morning and evening) on the affected area. The amount of gel applied should be measured using the dosing card supplied in the product carton.
• Squeeze the gel from the tube and measure it up to the 2g line on the dosing card. Clean and dry the dosing card after each use.
• Remove the security seal before first use by removing the cap.
• Insert the star-shaped groove on the reverse side of the cap into the star-shaped security seal of the tube. Firmly turn the cap to remove the security seal from the tube.
• Measure the amount of gel using the dosing card and gently apply it to the affected area, rubbing it into the skin. You may notice a slight cooling effect when you rub the gel in.
• After use, place the cap back on the tube and store it in an upright position.
• Wash your hands after applying the gel to avoid accidental contact with the mouth and eyes.
• If your condition does not improve within 7 days or if it gets worse, talk to your healthcare provider for further evaluation and guidance.
• In the case of a drug overdose, seek immediate medical attention by contacting a healthcare provider,  hospital emergency department, or regional Poison Control Centre, even if there are no symptoms.
• If you dispense more gel than needed, wipe off the surplus gel with a tissue.
• If you or a child accidentally swallow the gel, contact your healthcare provider immediately.
• If you miss applying Voltaren Gel Extra Strength at the correct time, apply it when you remember and then apply the next dose at the usual time.

Don’ts

• Do not exceed a total of 4g per day.
• Do not use the gel for more than 7 days for muscle and joint injuries unless recommended by a healthcare provider.
• Do not apply a double quantity to make up for the missed dose.

• Gastrointestinal (GI) bleeding
• Serious cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke
• Stomach upset
• Nausea
• Ulcers
• Skin irritation at the application site

Voltaren Gel Extra Strength may rarely cause serious bleeding from the stomach or intestines, which can occur without warning symptoms. Older adults may be at a higher risk for this effect.

Some individuals may experience severe allergic reactions to Voltaren Gel Extra Strength, such as skin rash, hives, or swelling. If you have experienced asthma, urticaria, or other allergic-type reactions after taking aspirin or other NSAIDs, Voltaren Gel Extra Strength should not be used.

Voltaren Gel Extra Strength may cause serious skin reactions, although they are rare. If you notice any signs of a serious skin reaction, such as skin rash or hypersensitivity, discontinue the use of Voltaren Gel Extra Strength and seek medical attention.

Voltaren Gel Extra Strength should not be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding without consulting a healthcare provider, as it may cause serious heart or kidney problems in the unborn baby and possible complications with the pregnancy.

Inform your healthcare provider about all the medications you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs and supplements, as Voltaren Gel Extra Strength may interact with certain medications.
