Kytril is indicated for the prevention of:

  • Nausea and vomiting associated with initial and repeat courses of emetogenic cancer therapy, including high-dose cisplatin.
  • Nausea and vomiting associated with radiation, including total body irradiation and fractionated abdominal radiation.

  • High levels of serotonin in the body - agitation, hallucinations, fever, fast heart rate, overactive reflexes, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of coordination, fainting

You should not use Kytril if you are allergic to granisetron or similar medicines such as dolasetron, ondansetron, or palonosetron. If you have a known allergy to these substances, inform your healthcare provider before taking Kytril.

Prior to taking Kytril, inform your healthcare provider if you have liver disease, a heart rhythm disorder, an electrolyte imbalance (such as low levels of potassium or magnesium in your blood), or a personal or family history of Long QT syndrome. These conditions may impact the suitability of Kytril for your specific medical situation.

Cases of serotonin syndrome have been reported following the concomitant use of Kytril and other serotonergic drugs. If concomitant treatment with granisetron and other serotonergic drugs is clinically warranted, appropriate observation of the patient is advised.

ECG changes including QT prolongation have been reported with Kytril. Use of Kytril in patients concurrently treated with drugs known to prolong the QT interval and/or are arrhythmogenic may result in clinical consequences. Discuss any existing medical conditions or medications with your healthcare provider before taking Kytril.
