Stablon (Tianeptine)

Do’s

Stablon is typically taken orally. 

The usual recommended dosage of Stablon is 1 tablet each time, 3 times a day. These doses should be taken in the morning, noon, and evening, preferably before meals. 

The tablet should be swallowed whole with a full glass of water.

For elderly patients over 70 years of age with impaired kidney function, the dosage may need to be adjusted. It is generally recommended to take no more than 2 tablets per day in this population. However, consult with your healthcare provider for personalized dosage recommendations based on your specific health condition.

Use Stablon as directed by your healthcare provider.

Don’ts

Do not stop taking Stablon abruptly or without medical supervision. 

Common Side Effects:

Increased heart rate

Blurred vision

Dry mouth

Difficulty in urination

Weight gain

Constipation

Orthostatic hypotension (sudden lowering of blood pressure on standing) 

These common side effects are usually mild and temporary.

Less Common Side Effects: 

Chest pain

Palpitations

Heart attack

Tachycardia (rapid heart rate)

Shortness of breath

Feeling of throat obstruction

Muscle pain

Back pain

Rash

Hives

Acne

Stablon may be unsafe to use during pregnancy, as animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Consult with your healthcare provider before taking Stablon if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. 

Stablon is considered unsafe to use during breastfeeding, as it may pass into breast milk and harm the baby.

Stablon should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease, and dose adjustment may be necessary. Limited information is available regarding the use of Stablon in patients with liver disease. 

Stablon may interact with other medications, including herbs and supplements. Inform your healthcare provider about all your current medications before starting treatment with Stablon.
