Zomig Rapimelt is a medication used to treat migraine headaches. It is to relieve the symptoms of a migraine attack, including headache pain, nausea or vomiting, and sensitivity to light and sound.

It contains the active ingredient zolmitriptan, which belongs to a group of medicines called triptans. Zomig Rapimelt is available as orodispersible tablets, which are designed to dissolve quickly in the mouth without the need for water.

It works by reducing the widening of blood vessels in the head, which is thought to be one of the causes of migraine symptoms.

Zomig Rapimelt is not used to prevent migraine headaches or to treat cluster headaches. It is specifically intended for the acute treatment of migraine headaches in adults.

Do’s:

  • Take Zomig exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider, at the first sign of a migraine.
  • Take it with or without food.
  • Inform your healthcare provider about all medications you take, including prescriptions, non-prescriptions, and herbal products.
  • If your migraine is only partially relieved or comes back after 2 hours, take another dose (but no more than 2 in 24 hours).
  • Follow your healthcare provider's specific dosage instructions, which may be a maximum of 5mg or 10mg per 24 hours.
  • Consult your healthcare provider for a heart exam if you have a higher risk of heart problems.
  • Consider taking your first dose at a healthcare provider's office for monitoring if recommended by your healthcare provider.

Don'ts:

  • Don't take more Zomig than prescribed, even if your symptoms don't improve initially.
  • Don't take Zomig more often than 10 days per month to avoid medication overuse headaches.
  • Don't use Zomig if you have certain risk factors for heart problems without first consulting your healthcare provider.
  • Don't take Zomig if you are unsure about the dosage or have any questions. Talk to your healthcare provider for clarification.
