Do’s

• Take Fenofibrate exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider, typically once daily.
• Consult your healthcare provider to understand if your specific brand should be taken with or without food.
• Take this medication consistently at the same time each day.
• Maintain a healthy diet and exercise routine as recommended by your healthcare provider.
• Be patient, as it may take up to 2 months to see the full benefits of this medication.
• Inform your healthcare provider about all other medications you take, including bile acid-binding resins.

Don'ts

• Don't switch between different forms or brands of Fenofibrate unless directed by your healthcare provider.
• Don't Increase your dose or use this medication more often or for longer than prescribed.
• Don't stop taking this medication without consulting your healthcare provider.
• Don't expect immediate results, as it takes time for Fenofibrate to work.
• Don't take Fenofibrate with bile acid-binding resins (cholestyramine or colestipol) within 1 hour of each other. There should be at least a 4-6 hour gap between taking these medications.

Common side effects of Tricor nanocrystallized may include:

• Nausea and vomiting
• Loss of appetite
• Stomach or abdominal pain
• Muscle pain or weakness
• Headache
• Dizziness
• Back pain
• Diarrhea
• Constipation
• Cold symptoms (such as a runny or stuffy nose)

Serious side effects of Tricor nanocrystallized are rare but may include:

• Gallstones
• Liver problems, such as liver damage or liver failure
• Rhabdomyolysis, a serious condition characterized by muscle breakdown
• Allergic reactions, including rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, or trouble breathing
• Signs of kidney problems, such as changes in urine output or color

Let your healthcare provider know if you have allergies to fenofibrate, other fibrates, or any ingredients in Tricor (especially soy).

Discuss any pre-existing health issues with your healthcare provider, particularly kidney disease, gallbladder disease, liver problems, or alcohol use, as these can affect how Tricor works for you.

Inform your healthcare provider about all medications you take, including Tricor, before any surgery.

Older adults may experience more side effects, especially muscle problems.

Tricor should only be used during pregnancy if absolutely necessary. Discuss risks and benefits with your healthcare provider.

Tricor may pass into breast milk. Avoid breastfeeding while taking Tricor and for 5 days after your last dose. Consult your healthcare provider for advice.
