Timolol (Timolol Maleate)

Do’s

• Administer this medication by mouth, with or without food, following your healthcare provider's instructions. Typically, the frequency of dosage, whether once or twice a day, will be determined by your healthcare provider based on your specific medical condition and how you respond to the treatment.
• Consistent use of this medication is essential for maximizing its benefits. To ensure consistency, take it at the same time(s) each day.
• For individuals using Timolol to manage high blood pressure, it may take several weeks before experiencing the full benefits of the drug. Even if you feel well, continue taking the medication as prescribed, as many individuals with high blood pressure do not experience symptoms.
• If you are using Timolol to prevent chest pain or migraine headaches, adhere to the prescribed schedule. 
• Inform your healthcare provider if your condition does not get better or if it gets worse (for example, your blood pressure readings remain high or increase, or your chest pain or migraines occur more often)

Don’ts

• Timolol should not be used to address sudden occurrences of chest pain or migraines. Instead, follow your healthcare provider's guidance on using other medications to alleviate sudden attacks.

• Blurred vision
• Abnormal eye sensation
• Asthma
• Abnormal tingling
• Eye irritation
• Double vision
• Headache
• Depression
• Dizziness
• Nausea
• Slow or irregular heartbeat
• Difficulty breathing
• Sudden weight gain
• Swelling of the feet or lower legs
• Fainting
• Pain, discharge, irritation, redness of the eye
• Swelling and itching of the eyelid
• Altered taste sensation
• Coldness/numbness/pain in the hands or feet
• Vision changes
• Unusual tiredness/weakness

Prior to using this medication, disclose your medical history to your healthcare provider. This includes conditions such as certain types of heart rhythm problems, heart failure, breathing problems, kidney disease, liver disease, overactive thyroid disease, serious allergic reactions, blood circulation problems, mental/mood disorders, and certain muscle diseases.

Timolol helps control your condition but will not cure it. Abruptly stopping Timolol can lead to serious heart problems. If there is a need to discontinue the medication, it should be done gradually under the guidance of a healthcare provider.
