Stendra (Avanafil)

Do’s

• Stendra is available in different doses and is usually taken by mouth with or without food as directed by a healthcare provider, usually as needed.
• This medication should be taken about 15 minutes or 30 minutes before sexual activity, depending on the prescribed dose. Follow your healthcare provider’s instructions carefully on how many minutes before sexual activity the medication should be taken.
• The dosage is based on the individual's medical condition, response to treatment, and other medications being taken. Inform your healthcare provider about all the products being used, including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products.
• If the condition does not improve, inform your healthcare provider.
• Stendra should be stored at room temperature away from moisture, heat, and light.

Don’ts

• Stendra should not be taken more than once daily. 

Common Side Effects:

• Headache
• Flushing

Other Possible Side Effects:

• Nasal congestion
• Back pain
• Allergic reactions, such as hives, difficulty breathing, and swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat

If any signs of an allergic reaction occur, seek emergency medical help.

Stendra should not be taken by women or children.

Taking Stendra with certain other medicines can cause a sudden and serious decrease in blood pressure. It should not be taken with riociguat (Adempas) or nitrate drugs such as nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate, or isosorbide mononitrate.

If dizziness or nausea occurs during sexual activity, or if there is pain, numbness, or tingling in the chest, arms, neck, or jaw, stop and call a healthcare provider right away, as these may be signs of a serious side effect.

Stendra should not be used in patients with New York Heart Association Class 2 or greater congestive heart failure.

Patients should be stable on alpha-blocker therapy prior to initiating treatment with Stendra, and the medication should be initiated at the appropriate dose

For patients taking concomitant strong or moderate CYP3A4 inhibitors, specific dosing recommendations and precautions apply.
