Condylox solution, also known as Podofilox, is used to treat warts on the outside of the genitals.

Podofilox belongs to a group of drugs called antimitotics. It works by stopping the growth of the wart, eventually causing it to fall off.

This medication is specifically used for external genital warts and should not be used on warts around the anus or on mucous membranes.

Condylox solution is applied to the warts as directed by your healthcare provider, usually once in the morning and once in the evening for a specific duration, followed by a rest period.

Do’s

  • Carefully read the Patient Information Leaflet before using Condylox and each time you get a refill. Ask your healthcare provider if you have any questions.
  • Apply Condylox only to genital warts your healthcare provider has identified, not on your anus, mucous membranes (urethra, rectum, vagina), inside your body, or other skin growths.
  • Use Condylox typically twice daily (morning and evening) for 3 consecutive days, followed by 4 days without treatment. You can repeat this cycle for up to 4 weeks if needed. Follow your healthcare provider's instructions precisely.
  • Wash the treatment area with soap and water and dry thoroughly before applying Condylox.
  • Use the provided applicator, dipping it just enough to wet the tip, not saturate it. Apply only to the designated warts.
  • For warts in skin folds, open the folds and apply the medication, letting it dry before the folds close again.
  • Discard the applicator after a single use. Don't reuse it. Wash your hands with soap and water after application.
  • Covering the treated area with loose cotton gauze or cotton underwear is acceptable, but avoid using waterproof dressings.
  • Use Condylox regularly as prescribed for optimal benefit. Track your application days on a calendar if needed.

Don'ts

  • Don't on Eye, nose, or mouth contact. Avoid getting Condylox in your eyes, nose, or mouth. If contact occurs, flush the area with water for 15 minutes and contact your healthcare provider.
  • Don't apply a large amount of Condylox or use it more often or for longer than prescribed. This won't accelerate improvement and may increase side effects.
  • Don't use it for Long-term purposes without consultation. Inform your healthcare provider if warts persist after 4 weeks of treatment, worsen, or new growths appear. Genital warts can recur after treatment.
  • Don't apply Condylox to the surrounding healthy skin.

Common side effects:

  • Bad odor (solution only)
  • Bleeding of treated skin
  • Blistering, crusting, or scabbing of treated skin
  • Bloody urine (solution only)
  • Burning feeling of treated skin
  • Itching of treated skin
  • Stinging or tingling sensation of treated skin
  • Headache (gel only)

Serious side effects (seek medical attention):

  • Severe skin reactions such as severe itching, burning, oozing, bleeding, or skin changes where the medicine is applied
  • Allergic reactions, such as rash, itching, swelling of the face, tongue, or throat
  • Serious allergic reaction (rare but possible), including difficulty breathing, severe dizziness, or swelling of the face, tongue, or throat

Inform your healthcare provider if you are allergic to podofilox or any ingredients in Condylox.

Discuss your medical history with your healthcare provider before using Condylox.

Condylox removes warts but does not cure the underlying HPV infection. New warts may develop after treatment.

Do not have sexual intercourse on days you apply Condylox.

Genital warts spread through sexual contact. Condoms may help prevent transmission to your partner. Discuss with your healthcare provider.

Do not use Condylox if pregnant. It may harm your unborn baby. Discuss birth control with your healthcare provider. It is unknown if podofilox passes into breast milk. Consult your healthcare provider before breastfeeding.
