Cetrotide (Cetrorelix)

Do’s

• Inspect the medication: Check Cetrotide for particles or discoloration before use. If present, discard it and don't use it.
• Inject as directed: Follow your healthcare provider's instructions for daily dosage, injection site (stomach, at least 1 inch from belly button), and duration of use.
• Clean the injection site: Use rubbing alcohol to cleanse the injection area before each dose.
• Rotate injection sites: Change the injection location on your stomach each time to avoid irritation.
• Follow the healthcare provider's instructions: Use Cetrotide exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider for optimal benefit. Don't adjust the dose or use it for longer than instructed.
• Learn disposal methods: Ask your healthcare provider about safe storage and disposal of Cetrotide and used needles.

Don'ts

• Don't use discolored or cloudy medication: If you see particles or discoloration, discard the Cetrotide and don't inject it.
• Don't improvise injection technique: Follow your healthcare provider's specific instructions for injection location and technique.
• Don't reuse injection sites: Inject in a different location on your stomach each time to prevent irritation.
• Don't alter the dosage or schedule: Don't change the prescribed dose or use Cetrotide for longer than instructed by your healthcare provider.
• Don't dispose of improperly: Learn the proper way to store and dispose of Cetrotide and used needles to avoid accidents or contamination.

Common side effects of Cetrotide (cetrorelix) may include:

• Headache
• Nausea
• Bruising at the injection site
• Itching and inflammation at the injection site

Serious side effects of Cetrotide are rare but may include:

• Severe pelvic pain
• Swelling of the hands or legs
• Abdominal pain and swelling
• Shortness of breath
• Weight gain
• Low urine output
• Diarrhea
• Nausea or vomiting
• Allergic reactions, including rash, itching/swelling, and trouble breathing

This is not an exhaustive list, and other side effects may occur. If you experience any unusual or severe side effects while taking Cetrotide,  contact your healthcare provider for medical advice.

Disclose any allergies to cetrorelix, other GnRH (Gonadotropin Releasing Hormone) products, or inactive ingredients before starting Cetrotide.

Medical History: Inform your healthcare provider about:

• History of severe allergic reactions
• Kidney disease

Inform your healthcare provider about all medications (including prescriptions, non-prescription, and herbal products) before any surgery.

Discontinue Cetrotide immediately upon pregnancy. This medication is contraindicated (should not be used) during pregnancy.

Consult your healthcare provider before breastfeeding as the safety of breastfeeding infants is unknown and breastfeeding is not recommended while using Cetrotide.
