Minivelle is indicated for two main uses:

  • Treatment of moderate to severe vasomotor symptoms due to menopause.
  • Prevention of postmenopausal osteoporosis.

Do’s

  • Read the Patient Information Leaflet provided by your pharmacist before starting to use this medication and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions, consult your healthcare provider.
  • Peel off the backing from the patch and apply it to a clean, dry area on the lower abdomen (below the umbilicus) or buttocks as directed. Press the patch firmly in place for about 10 seconds to ensure it stays on.
  • The patch should be replaced twice a week (every 3 to 4 days) according to the prescribed dosing schedule. Follow the dosing schedule carefully.
  • The dosage of Minivelle is based on your medical condition and response to treatment.
  • Follow your healthcare provider's instructions regarding the specific dosage to use.
  • When replacing your patch, make sure to apply the new patch to a different area of the body. Wait at least 1 week before applying a patch to the same area.
  • To dispose of the used patch, fold it in half with the sticky side together and throw it away in the trash, away from children and pets.
  • If a patch falls off, reapply it to a different area. If the patch does not stick completely, apply a new patch and wear it for the rest of the scheduled period.
  • Use Minivelle regularly as directed by your healthcare provider to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, change the patch on the same days each week. It may be helpful to mark your calendar as a reminder.
  • If your condition does not improve or worsens, be sure to inform your healthcare provider.

Don’ts

  • Do not apply the patch on the breast or on oily, broken, or irritated skin.
  • Avoid applying the patch to areas where it might be easily rubbed off, such as the waistline.
  • Do not flush the used patch down the toilet.
  • Do not wear two patches at the same time.
  • Headache
  • Breast tenderness
  • Back and limb pain
  • Common cold symptoms
  • Upset stomach
  • Nausea
  • Sinus inflammation
  • Irregular vaginal bleeding or spotting

This is not an exhaustive list of side effects, and individual experiences may vary. If you have specific questions or concerns about Minivelle and its side effects, consult your healthcare provider for personalized advice.

Consult a healthcare provider before starting Minivelle or making any changes to your medication regimen.

Certain conditions, such as recent or upcoming surgery, prolonged periods of immobility (e.g., long plane flights), or a personal history of blood clots, may increase the risk of developing blood clots. Estrogen products, including Minivelle, can further increase this risk. Inform your healthcare provider if you have any of these conditions, as special precautions or temporary discontinuation of the medication may be necessary.

The use of estrogen therapy, including Minivelle, may be associated with an increased risk of invasive breast cancer. The risks and benefits of estrogen therapy should be carefully evaluated for each individual, and the lowest effective dose should be used for the shortest duration consistent with treatment goals and risks.

Hysterectomized women with a history of endometriosis may need a progestogen in addition to estrogen therapy. The addition of a progestogen is generally recommended for women with a uterus to reduce the risk of uterine cancer. Discuss with your healthcare provider whether the addition of a progestogen is appropriate for you.

Regular check-ups with your healthcare provider are important to monitor your progress and determine if continued treatment with Minivelle is necessary.

If you experience vaginal bleeding while using Minivelle, notify your healthcare provider promptly.
