Bezalip (Bezafibrate)

Do’s

• Take Bezalip exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. This includes dosage (amount), frequency (how often you take it), and duration (for how long).
• Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water, with or after a meal.
• Maintain a healthy lifestyle alongside taking Bezalip, including a low-fat diet, exercise, and weight management (if needed).

Don'ts

• Do not take Bezalip if you are allergic to it or any of its ingredients.
• Don't take Bezalip if you have certain medical conditions, like liver or kidney disease.
• Avoid taking Bezalip with other medications that can increase muscle problems, like statins, unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.
• Don't abruptly stop taking Bezalip without consulting your healthcare provider.

Common Side Effects:

• Constipation
• Diarrhea
• Headache
• Nausea
• Rash

Serious Side Effects:

• Decreased urine production
• Dizziness
• Muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness, especially if accompanied by fever and feeling unwell
• Persistent and severe upper abdominal pain
• Symptoms of liver problems (e.g., yellow eyes or skin, dark urine, loss of appetite)
• Severe skin rash

Bezalip should be used with caution in patients with a history of jaundice or liver problems.

Bezalip may increase cholesterol excretion in bile, potentially leading to gallstones. Consult your healthcare provider if you experience symptoms suggestive of gallstones.

If you are taking blood thinners (anticoagulants), Bezalip may interact and require a dosage adjustment of your blood thinner. Careful monitoring of blood clotting time is recommended.

Bezalip is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
