Bezalip, also known as bezafibrate, is a medication classified as a fibrate drug used to lower lipid levels in the blood, specifically targeting hyperlipidemia.

Bezafibrate works by stimulating the action of enzymes that break down triglycerides, thereby reducing their levels in the blood. It also decreases the production of LDL cholesterol by the liver, leading to increased uptake of LDL cholesterol by liver cells.

Additionally, bezafibrate is known to increase HDL cholesterol levels, which helps protect the arteries against atherosclerosis

Do’s

  • Take Bezalip exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider. This includes dosage (amount), frequency (how often you take it), and duration (for how long).
  • Swallow the tablets whole with a glass of water, with or after a meal.
  • Maintain a healthy lifestyle alongside taking Bezalip, including a low-fat diet, exercise, and weight management (if needed).

Don'ts

  • Do not take Bezalip if you are allergic to it or any of its ingredients.
  • Don't take Bezalip if you have certain medical conditions, like liver or kidney disease.
  • Avoid taking Bezalip with other medications that can increase muscle problems, like statins, unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.
  • Don't abruptly stop taking Bezalip without consulting your healthcare provider.
