Consulting a healthcare provider before starting Tradjenta or any new medication, changing a diet, or commencing or discontinuing any course of treatment is recommended.

The risk of hypoglycemia is increased when linagliptin is used in combination with an insulin secretagogue (e.g., sulfonylurea) or insulin. Coadministration of Tradjenta with these medications may require lower doses of the insulin secretagogue or insulin to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia.

Acute pancreatitis, including fatal cases, has been reported in patients treated with Tradjenta. Promptly discontinue Tradjenta and contact a healthcare provider if persistent severe abdominal pain occurs, as this may be a symptom of acute pancreatitis.

Tradjenta has not been studied in patients with a history of pancreatitis, and it is unknown whether such patients are at an increased risk for the development of pancreatitis while using Tradjenta.

Inform the healthcare provider about any history of heart problems, kidney disease, high triglycerides, gallstones, or alcoholism before using Tradjenta.
