Temovate Cream is a super-high potency corticosteroid formulation indicated for the relief of the inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses. It is used to treat inflammation and itching caused by certain skin conditions, including allergic reactions, eczema, and psoriasis.

Do’s

  • Temovate Cream is indicated for use on the skin only.
  • Wash and dry your hands before using Temovate Cream.
  • Clean and dry the affected area before application.
  • Apply a thin film of the medication to the affected area and gently rub it in as directed by your healthcare provider, usually 2 times daily. Follow their prescribed dosage and administration instructions.
  • After applying the medication, wash your hands unless you are using this medication to treat the hands
  • This medicine is for short-term use only (2 weeks, or up to 4 weeks for scalp psoriasis). Follow your healthcare provider's dosing instructions very carefully. If no improvement is seen within 2 weeks, reassessment of the diagnosis may be necessary.

Don’ts

  • Temovate Cream should not be used on the face, groin, or underarms unless directed to do so by a healthcare provider.
  • Do not cover the treated skin area with a bandage or other covering unless directed to do so by your healthcare provider. Covering treated areas can increase the amount of medicine absorbed through your skin and may cause harmful effects.
  • Do not use Temovate Cream on broken or infected skin. Also, avoid using this medicine in open wounds. If you are treating the diaper area, do not use plastic pants or tight-fitting diapers.
  • When applying this medication near the eyes, avoid getting it in the eyes because this may worsen or cause glaucoma. Also, avoid getting this medication in the nose or mouth. If you get the medication in these areas, rinse with plenty of water.
  • Temovate Cream should not be used for longer than 2 weeks in a row or use more than 50 grams per week unless directed to do so by a healthcare provider.

Common Side Effects:

  • Burning, itching, or irritation of the treated skin
  • Dry or cracking ski

Serious Side Effects:

  • Worsening of skin condition
  • Redness, warmth, swelling, oozing, or severe irritation of the treated skin
  • Blurred vision
  • Eye pain
  • Signs of high blood sugar

If any of the serious side effects occur they should be reported to a healthcare provider.

Allergic Reaction:

  • In some cases, an allergic reaction to Temovate Cream may occur, leading to symptoms such as hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Follow your healthcare provider's instructions when using Temovate Cream and report any unusual symptoms or side effects during its use.

The use of occlusive dressings and higher potency corticosteroids with Temovate Cream may lead to additional local adverse reactions, including dryness, acneiform eruptions, hypopigmentation, perioral dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis, secondary infection, irritation, striae, and miliaria.

Temovate Cream should not be used in the treatment of rosacea or perioral dermatitis, and should not be used on the face, groin, or axillae.

Topically applied Temovate Cream can be absorbed in sufficient amounts to produce systemic effects.

Pediatric patients may be more susceptible to systemic toxicity from equivalent doses due to their larger skin surface-to-body mass ratios.

Clinical studies did not include sufficient numbers of subjects aged 65 and over to determine whether they respond differently from younger subjects. In general, dose selection for an elderly patient should be cautious.
