Jublia is specifically for treating fungal infections of the toenails. Jublia is only effective against fungal infections, not infections caused by bacteria.

Jublia's active ingredient, efinaconazole, is classified as an azole antifungal medication. It works by halting the growth of the fungus responsible for the infection. Overusing or unnecessary use of Jublia can reduce its effectiveness over time.

Do's

  • Clean and dry the infected toenails thoroughly before applying Jublia.
  • Wait at least 10 minutes after water exposure (bathing, showering, washing) before use.
  • Apply Jublia only to the affected toenails as directed by your healthcare provider, typically once daily for 48 weeks. For children, an adult application is required.
  • Use the provided brush to completely cover the toenail, including the folds, bed, and under the edges.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly after applying the medication.
  • Use Jublia consistently every day for the full prescribed duration, even if symptoms improve.
  • Continue long-term treatment for healthy nails to replace infected ones. Stopping early can cause the infection to return.
  • Inform your healthcare provider if your condition worsens or doesn't improve.
  • Keep away from heat or open flames due to flammability risk. (Refer to the package insert for specific storage instructions.)

Don'ts

  • Avoid contact with other body parts. In case of accidental contact, wipe off and rinse with water.

Common side effects of Jublia include:

  • Ingrown toenail
  • Redness
  • Itching
  • Swelling
  • Burning or stinging
  • Blisters
  • Pain

Serious side effects of Jublia include:

  • Pain, redness, swelling, burning, stinging, itching, or blisters at the application site
  • Ingrown toenail

This is not an exhaustive list, and other side effects may occur. If you experience any unusual or severe side effects while taking  Jublia,  contact your healthcare provider for medical advice.

Disclose any allergies to efinaconazole, other azole antifungals, or any other ingredients in the medication.

Inform your healthcare provider of your complete medical history.

Tell your healthcare provider or dentist about all medications you take (including prescriptions, over-the-counter, and herbal products) before any surgery.

Jublia should only be used during pregnancy if absolutely necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your healthcare provider.

It is unknown if Jublia passes into breast milk. Consult with your healthcare provider before breastfeeding.
