Nizoral Cream (Ketoconazole)

Do’s

• Use Nizoral Cream only on your skin, as directed by your healthcare provider.
• Clean and dry the affected area thoroughly before applying the cream.
• Apply the cream to the affected skin and some surrounding areas, following your healthcare provider's instructions on frequency (usually once or twice daily).
• Wash your hands thoroughly after applying the cream.
• Use the medication regularly at the same time(s) each day for the prescribed duration.
• Continue using the cream even if symptoms improve to prevent recurrence.
• Inform your healthcare provider if your condition worsens or persists after completing the prescribed treatment.

Don'ts

• Don't apply Nizoral Cream to your eyes, nose, mouth, or vagina.
• Don't apply the cream more often than prescribed. Overuse won't improve results and might increase side effects.
• Don't wrap, cover, or bandage the treated area unless instructed by your healthcare provider.
• Don't stop using the cream prematurely, even if symptoms disappear.
• Don't use expired Nizoral Cream.

Common side effects:

• Thinning hair
• Changes in the color or texture of hair
• Dry skin

Serious side effects that may require immediate medical attention include:

• Redness, pain, or oozing of treated skin
• Itching, stinging, burning, or irritation not present before use of this medicine
• Acne
• Bleeding from sore in the mouth
• Blistering, crusting, irritation, itching, or reddening of the skin
• Burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
• Cracked, dry, or scaly skin
• Discoloration of the fingernails or toenails
• Dizziness
• Eye dryness, irritation, or swelling
• Red rash with watery, yellow-colored, or pus-filled blisters with or without thick yellow to honey-colored crusts
• Skin dryness, pain, rash, redness, or swelling
• Sore in the mouth or on the gums
• Swelling of the face

This is not an exhaustive list, and other side effects may occur. If you experience any unusual or severe side effects while taking Nizoral Cream,  contact your healthcare provider for medical advice.

Disclose any allergies to Ketoconazole, other azole antifungals (like clotrimazole, econazole, miconazole), or other medication ingredients.

Review your medical history with your healthcare provider before using Nizoral Cream.

Nizoral Cream should only be used during pregnancy if absolutely necessary. Discuss risks and benefits with your healthcare provider. It's unknown if Nizoral Cream passes into breast milk. Consult your healthcare provider before breastfeeding.

Keep track of all medications you take (prescription, non-prescription, and herbal products). Share the drug Interaction lists with your healthcare provider. This allows them to identify potential interactions with Nizoral Cream.

Avoid medication adjustments without consulting your healthcare provider. Never start, stop, or change the dosage of any medications on your own.
