Cambia (Diclofenac Potassium)

Do's

• Take this medication by mouth as directed by your doctor.  Empty the contents of one packet into a cup containing 1 to 2 ounces (30 to 60 milliliters) of water. Mix well and drink all of it right away. Do not mix Cambia with any liquid other than water.
• Take one dose of Cambia to treat your migraine headache. Each dose is contained in a single packet. According to the manufacturer, you should not take more than one packet of Cambia per migraine attack. If you do not experience relief after taking Cambia, do not take additional doses before consulting your healthcare provider.
• If you experience stomach upset while taking Cambia, you can take it with food, milk, or an antacid. However, taking it with a high-fat meal may reduce its effectiveness. Different brands and forms of diclofenac may have different effects at equal strengths. Therefore, do not switch forms of diclofenac unless specifically instructed by your healthcare provider. To reduce the risk of stomach bleeding and other side effects, take Cambia at the lowest effective dose. Do not increase your dose or take it more often than prescribed.
• Pain medications, including Cambia, work best when used at the first signs of pain or migraine. Waiting until the pain has worsened may reduce the effectiveness of the medication.
• Using medications for migraine attacks on 10 or more days each month may actually make your headaches worse. Do not use Cambia or any other migraine medication more often or for longer than directed. If the medication is not working well or your headaches worsen, consult your healthcare provider.

Common side effects:

Serious side effects:

• Stomach bleeding or ulcers
• Heart attack or stroke
• Kidney problems
• Severe stomach pain
• Black stools or bloody vomit
• Chest pain, shortness of breath, or trouble breathing
• Swelling of the face, ankles, or hands
• Sudden vision changes
• Confusion or weakness

This is not an exhaustive list, and other side effects may occur. If you experience any unusual or severe side effects while taking Cambia, contact your healthcare provider for medical advice.

Inform your doctor about any allergies, especially to diclofenac, aspirin, or other NSAIDs.

Disclose your medical history, particularly if you have:

• Asthma
• Blood disorders
• Nasal polyps
• Heart disease
• High blood pressure
• Liver disease
• Stroke
• Swelling
• Stomach/intestinal/esophageal problems (bleeding, heartburn, ulcers)

Be aware of potential kidney complications, especially if you are dehydrated, have pre-existing health conditions, or take certain medications. Stay hydrated and report any unusual changes in urine output or color.

Cambia may cause dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vision. Avoid activities requiring alertness or clear vision until these effects subside.

This risk increases with alcohol, tobacco, or combined use. Limit alcohol and quit smoking.

Use sun protection and avoid excessive sun exposure.

Aspartame content (if applicable), interactions with surgery, increased risks for older adults, potential harm to unborn babies, and passage into breast milk.

Discuss the risks and benefits of Cambia with your doctor before pregnancy or if you plan to become pregnant.

Avoid using Cambia from 20 weeks of pregnancy onward, and use only the lowest effective dose if necessary between 20-30 weeks.

Consult your doctor before breastfeeding while taking Cambia.
