Arnuity Ellipta is indicated for the prevention of asthma attacks. It is a corticosteroid that works to prevent the release of substances in the body that cause inflammation. This medication is used in adults and children who are at least 5 years old.

Do's

  • Read the patient information leaflet and instructions for use provided by your pharmacist before using Arnuity Ellipta.
  • Follow the illustrated directions for the proper use of this medication. If there are any questions, consult with your healthcare provider.
  • Inhale this medication by mouth as directed by your healthcare provider, usually once daily.
  • Inhale each dose deeply to get the drug into your lungs. It is normal to either taste/feel the drug when you inhale or not.
  • Wait at least 1 minute between using other inhalers simultaneously. Ensure that this drug (the corticosteroid) is used last when using multiple inhalers at the same time.
  • Gargle, rinse your mouth with water and spit out after each use to prevent dry mouth, hoarseness, and oral yeast infections.
  • Use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. It works best if used at evenly spaced intervals. To help remember, use it at the same time each day.
  • Continue taking any other corticosteroid regularly unless instructed otherwise by your healthcare provider.
  • Be aware that stopping the medication suddenly can worsen certain conditions like asthma or allergies. If you suddenly stop taking the drug, you may also have withdrawal symptoms. Your healthcare provider may slowly lower the dose of your old medication after starting to use Arnuity Ellipta.
  • Wait up to 2 weeks or longer before experiencing the full benefit of this drug.
  • Inform your healthcare provider if symptoms do not improve or worsen.
  • Learn which inhalers to use every day (controller drugs) and which to use if breathing suddenly worsens (quick-relief drugs). Ask your healthcare provider ahead of time what to do in case of new or worsening symptoms.
  • Consult a healthcare provider for any specific concerns or queries regarding the dosage and administration of Arnuity Ellipta.

Don'ts

  • Do not breathe out (exhale) into the inhaler device.
  • Do not swallow the rinse water after gargling and rinsing your mouth.
  • Do not increase your dose, use it more often, or stop using it without consulting your healthcare provider.

The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment.

Common Side Effects:

  • Low fever, cough, wheezing, chest tightness
  • Hoarseness or deepened voice
  • White patches or sores inside the mouth or on the lips

Serious Side Effects:

  • Adrenal insufficiency when transitioning from oral corticosteroid medicines to Arnuity Ellipta.
  • A very serious allergic reaction which is rare but requires immediate medical attention. Symptoms of a serious allergic reaction may include rash, itching/swelling, severe dizziness, and trouble breathing.

Not all individuals using Arnuity Ellipta will experience these side effects, and some may experience different or additional effects. If you have concerns about the side effects of Arnuity Ellipta, discuss them with your healthcare provider for personalized advice and guidance.

Arnuity Ellipta is not intended for use as a rescue medicine for sudden asthma attacks. If breathing problems worsen quickly or if asthma medications do not seem to work effectively, seek immediate medical attention.

Individuals who are allergic to fluticasone or milk proteins should not use Arnuity Ellipta. Consult a healthcare provider before using the medication if there are concerns about allergies.

When transitioning from oral corticosteroid medicines (such as prednisone) to a medicine containing an ICS like Arnuity Ellipta, there is a risk of adrenal insufficiency. This condition occurs when the adrenal glands do not produce enough steroid hormones. Discuss this potential risk with a healthcare provider.

Inform the healthcare provider about all the medicines being taken, including prescription and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Some medicines may interact with Arnuity Ellipta, potentially causing serious side effects.

For individuals who are pregnant or breastfeeding, the use of Arnuity Ellipta should be discussed with a healthcare provider. Seek medical advice if pregnancy occurs while using Arnuity Ellipta, as the effects on pregnancy and breastfeeding are not fully known.

Follow the prescribed usage instructions and store Arnuity Ellipta as per the specific storage needs outlined in the product package or as advised by your healthcare provider.

If there are any concerns or questions about the warnings and precautions associated with Arnuity Ellipta, consult with a healthcare provider for personalized advice and guidance.
