Airomir is used to relieve and prevent symptoms of reversible airway obstruction caused by asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

It works by relaxing the muscles in the walls of the small airways in the lungs, allowing them to open up and making breathing easier.

The inhaler form of Airomir is a reliever inhaler, used to provide quick relief from acute bronchospasm and to prevent exercise-induced bronchospasm.

Do’s

  • Use an Airomir inhaler exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider, typically for quick relief of sudden shortness of breath or wheezing.
  • Before using Airomir for the first time, carefully read the patient information leaflet that comes with the inhaler. It provides detailed instructions on proper use and potential side effects.
  • Shake the inhaler well for at least 5 seconds before each use. This ensures proper medication distribution within the inhaler.
  • If your healthcare provider recommends using a spacer device with your Airomir MDI, attach it as instructed. A spacer can improve medication delivery to your lungs.
  • Breathe out slowly and completely before placing the mouthpiece between your lips. Breathe in slowly and deeply through the inhaler while pressing down on the canister to release the medication (if using MDI). Hold your breath for a few seconds and then breathe out slowly through your nose or away from the inhaler.
  • If you're using a spacer, rinse your mouth with water after each use to help prevent thrush (fungal infection in the mouth).
  • If needed, your healthcare provider may advise repeating the inhalation process for a specific number of puffs.
  • Monitor the number of inhalations you use and refill your prescription before running out to avoid interruptions in treatment.

Don'ts

  • Don't use Airomir inhalers more often or for more puffs than prescribed by your healthcare provider. Overuse can worsen side effects and potentially lead to dependence.
  • Don't  use it for prevention. Airomir inhalers are typically used for quick relief of breathing problems, not for preventing them. Discuss a preventative treatment plan with your healthcare provider if needed.
  • Don't share your Airomir inhaler with others, as it can spread infections.
  • Don't suddenly stop using the Airomir inhaler without consulting your healthcare provider, even if you feel better.
  • Don't use an Airomir inhaler past its expiration date.
