Arcoxia (Etoricoxib)

Do’s

• Follow your healthcare provider's instructions exactly. This includes taking Arcoxia with or without food, at the prescribed time and dosage.
• Take it consistently. Taking Arcoxia regularly is crucial for managing pain and inflammation.
• Try to take Arcoxia at the same time each day to help you remember.
• Inform your healthcare provider of any changes. Tell them if your pain improves or worsens.

Don'ts

• Don't adjust your dosage: Only your healthcare provider can determine the appropriate amount of Arcoxia for you.
• Take it more than prescribed. Don't exceed the recommended dosage.
• Don't stop taking it abruptly. Talk to your healthcare provider before stopping Arcoxia, as they may need to gradually taper your dose.
• Avoid Arcoxia if you have a history of stomach ulcers, bleeding in your gut, uncontrolled high blood pressure, heart disease, or stroke.

Common side effects of Arcoxia may include:

• Taste alteration
• Wheezing
• Insomnia
• Anxiety
• Drowsiness
• Mouth ulcers
• Diarrhea
• Increased blood pressure
• Confusion
• Hallucinations
• Decreased platelets

Serious side effects of Arcoxia are rare but may include:

• Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, which may cause difficulty in swallowing or breathing (hypersensitivity reactions, anaphylactic/anaphylactoid reactions including shock)
• Abnormal rhythm of the heart (atrial fibrillation)
• Heart failure
• Palpitations
• Serious kidney problems
• Serious liver problems
• Stomach pain
• Stomach ulcers that may become serious and may bleed, occurring at any time during use and without warning

Do not take Arcoxia if you are allergic to it, aspirin, other NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) or any other ingredients in the medication.

Inform your healthcare provider about any pre-existing health conditions, especially:

• Stomach ulcers, bleeding problems, or other stomach problems
• Heart disease, high blood pressure, or stroke
• Kidney disease or liver disease
• History of a serious allergic reaction called angioedema

Arcoxia may increase the risk of heart attack or stroke, especially with high doses or long-term use.

Arcoxia can cause stomach ulcers or bleeding, which can be serious. This risk is higher for people who take Arcoxia for a long time, are older, or have a history of stomach ulcers or bleeding.

Arcoxia can increase blood pressure. Your healthcare provider will likely want to monitor your blood pressure while you are taking Arcoxia.

Arcoxia should not be taken during pregnancy. It can cause problems with the developing baby's heart and kidneys.
