Arava is used to reduce the signs and symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, and to improve physical function and to prevent the structural damage to joints from occurring. Arava should be stored at room temperature and kept away from moisture, heat, and light. Arava should be taken exactly as it was prescribed. Arava may be taken with or without food. Arava may take 4 weeks or longer to show signs of improvement. If a dose of Arava is missed, make sure to take it as soon as possible, unless it is almost time for your next dose. In case it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and take Arava regularly. Don’t take 2 doses at once. Arava should not be taken if you are allergic to any ingredients in the medication, if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant. Serious side effects of Arava may include: allergic reaction; blistering or peeling skin; blisters on the inside of eyes, nose, or mouth; chest pain; dark urine; easy bruising/bleeding; feelings of numbness or tingling; fever; infection; muscle cramps; pale skin; pale stools; sore throat; stomach pain; unusual tiredness; vomiting; yellowing of the eyes or skin.Less serious side effects may include: back pain; bronchitis; diarrhea; dizziness; dry skin; hair loss; headache; increased cough; indigestion; joint disorder; loss of appetite; muscle aches; nausea; runny nose; sinus infection; upper respiratory tract infection; urinary tract infection; vomiting; weakness; weight loss.
