Zymaxid ophthalmic solution (Gatifloxacin) is a quinolone antibiotic used for eye infections such as conjunctivitis.
Gatifloxacin is a fourth-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic used to treat a wide variety of infections in the body. It is an antibiotic agent that works by inhibiting the bacterial enzymes DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV.
This medication treats only bacterial eye infections and will not work for other types of eye infections. Unnecessary use or misuse of any antibiotic can lead to its decreased effectiveness.
