Uribel is indicated for the following purposes:

  1. Treatment of Symptoms of Irritative Voiding: Uribel is indicated for the treatment of symptoms of irritative voiding. It helps relieve local symptoms such as inflammation, hypermotility, and pain that accompany lower urinary tract infections.
  2. Relief of Urinary Tract Symptoms: Uribel is used to relieve discomfort, pain, frequent urge to urinate, and cramps/spasms of the urinary tract caused by a urinary tract infection or a diagnostic procedure.
  3. Treatment of Symptoms Caused by Infection or Irritation of the Urinary Tract: Uribel is a combination medication made up of 5 drugs used to treat symptoms caused by infection or irritation of the urinary tract. It helps relieve painful urination, bladder discomfort, loss of bladder control, and the urge to urinate often or without warning.

Do’s

  • Take Uribel by mouth as directed by your healthcare provider, usually 4 times a day. Each dose should be taken with a full glass of water (8 ounces/240 milliliters). 
  • Drinking plenty of fluids while being treated with this medication is advised unless otherwise directed by your healthcare provider. If stomach upset occurs, it may be taken with food.
  • The dosage of Uribel is based on your medical condition, age, and response to treatment.
  • Antacids may decrease the absorption and effectiveness of Uribel. If you are also taking antacids, take Uribel at least 1 hour before antacids.
  • For the best effect, take this medication at evenly spaced times. To help remember, take it at the same times each day.
  • If your condition does not improve in a few days or if you develop signs of a urinary tract infection (such as burning/painful/frequent urination), inform your healthcare provider.

Don’ts

  • Do not lie down for at least 10 minutes after taking this medication.
  • Do not increase the dose or use this drug more often or for longer than prescribed, as doing so will not improve the condition any faster and may increase the risk of side effects.
  • Caffeine can increase the side effects of Uribel. Avoid consuming large amounts of beverages containing caffeine (coffee, tea, colas), eating large amounts of chocolate, or taking nonprescription products that contain caffeine.
  • Rapid pulse
  • Dizziness
  • Blurred vision

If these symptoms occur, stop taking Uribel right away and contact a healthcare provider. 

There is a possibility of allergic reactions if there has been a previous reaction to belladonna alkaloids, such as atropine and scopolamine.
