Tolak Cream, also known as fluorouracil cream, is indicated for the topical treatment of actinic keratosis lesions of the face, ears, and/or scalp in adults. Actinic keratosis is a rough, scaly patch on the skin that develops from years of exposure to the sun.

Do’s

  • Before applying Tolak Cream, clean the affected area and ensure it is thoroughly dry. Wait for 10 minutes, then apply a small amount of the medication to the affected skin, using just enough to cover the area with a thin film.
  • The cream should be applied once daily to the areas of the skin to be treated for a period of 4 weeks unless otherwise directed by a healthcare provider.
  • Use the medication exactly as prescribed.
  • After applying Tolak Cream, wash your hands immediately, even if gloves have been used.
  • The treated area may become unsightly during treatment and for several weeks after treatment. Consult with a healthcare provider regarding the possibility of loosely covering the treated area with gauze.
  • Tolak Cream may cause serious harm, even death, to pets. It should be kept securely away from pets. In case of pet contact, a veterinarian should be contacted immediately.

Don’ts

  • Do not stop using this cream without consulting a healthcare provider.
  • Increasing the dose or using this cream more often than directed is not recommended, as it may lead to increased side effects without accelerating the clearing of the condition.
  • Do not cover the treated area with tight dressings or plastic bandages.
  • Avoid applying the medication in or around the eyes or eyelids, as well as inside the nose or mouth. If accidental contact occurs in these areas, it should be rinsed with plenty of water.
  • Pets should not be allowed to lick the area where the medication was applied.

Common Side Effects:

  • Skin reactions at the site of application, such as irritation, pain, redness, itching, inflammation, and swelling

Serious Side Effects:

  • Severe stomach-area (abdominal) pain
  • Bloody diarrhea

Stop using Tolak Cream and call your healthcare provider at once if you experience serious side effects.
