Sporanox Solution, also known as itraconazole oral solution, is indicated for the treatment of oropharyngeal and esophageal candidiasis. 

Do’s

  • The dosage of Sporanox Solution will be determined by your healthcare provider based on your medical condition. Follow their instructions regarding the dosage. The solution is usually taken once or twice daily.
  • Take the medication by mouth without food as directed by your healthcare provider.
  • Swish the solution in your mouth for several seconds, ensuring that it comes into contact with the affected areas. Then, swallow the solution.
  • To ensure the best effect, take this antifungal at evenly spaced times. It may be helpful to establish a routine and take the medication at the same time(s) every day.
  • Continue to take the medication until the full prescribed amount is finished, even if your symptoms improve or disappear after a few days. Stopping the medication too early may lead to a return of the infection.
  • If your condition does not improve or gets worse, inform your healthcare provider.

  • Do not switch between different forms or brands of this drug without your healthcare provider's direction. The capsule, tablet, and solution forms of Sporanox deliver different amounts of medication and may be used for different purposes.

Sporanox may interact with other medications, including cisapride, pimozide, methadone, levacetylmethadol (levomethadyl), or quinidine. Serious cardiovascular events have occurred in patients using these medications concomitantly with Sporanox. Inform your healthcare provider about all the medications you are taking to avoid potential interactions.

Sporanox Solution must not be used during pregnancy for non-life-threatening indications. Women of childbearing potential taking Sporanox Solution should use contraceptive precautions, and effective contraception should be continued until the menstrual period following the end of Sporanox therapy.
