Mycelex Troche (Clotrimazole)

Do’s

• Use Mycelex Troche exactly as prescribed by your healthcare provider.
• Follow your healthcare provider's instructions on the frequency (usually 3-5 times daily). For optimal effectiveness, try to take Mycelex Troche at evenly spaced intervals throughout the day.
• Place the lozenge in your mouth and allow it to dissolve slowly over 15-30 minutes.
• Avoid eating or drinking while the lozenge is in your mouth.
• Consult your healthcare provider if you have trouble swallowing or experience pain while swallowing. Alternative medications might be necessary.
• Continue using Mycelex Troche for the entire prescribed duration, even if symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping early can lead to the infection returning.
• Inform your healthcare provider if your condition worsens or persists after using the medication.

Don’ts

• Do not use Mycelex Troche for longer or more frequently than prescribed.
• Do not give Mycelex Troche to children unless instructed by your healthcare provider.
• Do not chew or swallow it whole.

Mycelex Troche comes in different treatment durations depending on whether it's for treating an existing infection or preventing one.

Common side effects:

• Nausea/vomiting
• Signs of kidney problems, such as changes in the amount of urine
• Electrolyte imbalance and BUN increases, particularly when used with other diuretics
• Hyponatremia and hypochloremia when used with other diuretics
• Increased BUN levels, especially in seriously ill patients with vigorous fluid elimination
• Symptoms of dehydration or mineral loss, such as very dry mouth, extreme thirst, muscle cramps, weakness, fast heartbeat, severe dizziness, confusion, fainting, and seizures when used with other diuretics

Serious side effects:

• Signs of a serious allergic reaction, such as hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat
• Unusual bleeding or bruising
• Lack of energy
• Pain in the upper right part of the stomach
• Yellowing of the skin or eyes
• Flu-like symptoms with a rash, red or purple rash turning into blisters, or peeling of the skin
• Worsening symptoms of heart failure, such as shortness of breath, swelling ankles/feet, unusual tiredness, or sudden weight gain

Disclose any allergies you have to Clotrimazole, other azole antifungal drugs (like ketoconazole), or other ingredients in the medication.

Inform your healthcare provider about any history of liver disease.

Inform your healthcare provider about all medications you take (prescription, non-prescription, and herbal products) before surgery.

Mycelex Troche should only be used during pregnancy if absolutely necessary. Discuss risks and benefits with your healthcare provider. It's unknown if Mycelex Troche passes into breast milk. Consult your healthcare provider before breastfeeding.

To avoid Drug interactions, maintain a medication list of all medications you take (prescription, non-prescription, and herbal products). Share this list with your healthcare provider. Avoid medication adjustments without consulting your healthcare provider. Never start, stop, or change the dosage of any medications on your own.
