Invokana (Canagliflozin)  is used with a proper diet and exercise program to control high blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes. 

Canagliflozin is also used by people with type 2 diabetes and heart disease to lower the risk of death from heart attack or stroke.   • Nocturia (frequent urination at night)
  • Polyuria (excessive urination)
  • Urinary urgency
  • Pollakiuria (frequent urination)

Serious side effects of Invokana are rare:

  • Dehydration, which can cause low blood pressure
  • Lower limb amputations (surgery to remove a toe, foot, or part of the leg)
  • Serious urinary tract infection (UTI)
  • Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)
  • Increased risk of broken bones
  • Kidney damage
