Importance of Breakfast for a Healthy Life

Many people, including me, have heard their mothers tell them that “breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” However, many of us have never actually gone out of our way to discover the importance of breakfast and why this is true. Well, the saying itself is true, but for many reasons that even your mom probably didn’t know.

When you go to sleep your body goes about 6-10 hours without food or drinks, basically, your body is running on empty when you wake up. Therefore, it is extremely important to refuel with a big, but healthy breakfast.

Why Is Breakfast So Important?

Try eating foods with glucose in them to supply enough energy for the day. Why? Because glucose is the body’s source of energy, much like fuel for your car. Your brain feeds on glucose, so by eating a big meal consisting of foods that contain glucose, your mind will be sharper, and you’ll be able to concentrate better—furthermore, glucose powers your muscles

Consider the importance of eating breakfast – A good breakfast will give your mind and body more energy making you feel energized for longer periods.

However, the crucial part about breakfast, the most important meal, is avoiding bad food items like donuts. Donuts will give you a spike in glucose and energy; however, they will be short-lived and followed by a massive sugar crash. Instead, try looking for foods with 100% whole grains because they digest evenly and give you energy throughout the day.

Shedding Extra Pounds Is One Benefit of Eating Breakfast

Additionally, if you are trying to lose weight, but think skipping breakfast is one way to do it, you are sadly mistaken. Many studies show that adults and children who skip breakfast are more likely to be heavier than those that have breakfast every day. Furthermore, studies have shown that children who eat breakfast do better in school because they are more focused and are able to concentrate at a higher level.

Next time you hear someone tell you about the benefits of breakfast the most important meal of the day, or if you are telling someone else the reasons to eat breakfast, also tell them why. Makes you think, what else was mom right about when you were younger?
