Prometrium (Progesterone)

Do’s

Before starting to use Prometrium, read the Patient Information Leaflet available from your pharmacist. If you have any questions about the medication, consult your healthcare provider.

Take Prometrium by mouth as directed by your healthcare provider. The usual dosage is once a day at bedtime.

If swallowing the pills is difficult, take them with a full glass of water while standing up.

Follow the dosing schedule carefully and consult your healthcare provider if you have any questions.

The dosage of Prometrium is based on your medical condition and response to therapy.

If your condition does not improve or worsens, inform your healthcare provider promptly.

Individual experiences with medication can vary, and not everyone may experience these side effects. If you have concerns about the side effects of Prometrium, consult your healthcare provider for personalized guidance and support.

Prometrium should not be used if you have abnormal vaginal bleeding, a history of breast cancer, liver disease, or if you have recently had a heart attack, stroke, or blood clot.

Prometrium should not be used during pregnancy.

Prometrium contains peanut oil and should not be used if you are allergic to peanuts.

There have not been sufficient numbers of geriatric women involved in clinical studies utilizing Prometrium to determine whether those over 65 years of age differ from younger subjects in their response to the medication.

Prometrium may cause transient dizziness and drowsiness and should be used with caution when driving a motor vehicle or operating machinery.

Consult a healthcare provider before taking Prometrium and other drugs, changing any diet, or commencing or discontinuing any course of treatment.
